CollectA’s Pteranodon is sculpted in a standing position, with its yellow front limbs resting on the ground and its brown wings folded. It's long, brown beak and moveable jaw highlight its pink throat sac, perfect for catching prey. This impressive flying dinosaur model has been made in a deluxe 1:15 scale, allowing you to really see how majestic these flying creatures were in prehistoric skies.
a large, Late Cretaceous, North American pterosaur living 86-84.5 million years ago. The model of an adult male has an articulated jaw. Possibly the best known and most popular of the pterosaurs and was common around the shores of the great inland sea that covered much of middle of what is now the United States of America.
Pterosaurs were not dinosaurs but lived at the same time and are related to them. Pteranodon was the first pterosaur to be found outside of Europe in the 1870s. The wingspan of an average adult male was 5.6 meters (18 ft) with the largest known measuring 6.25 meters (20.5 ft) from wingtip to wingtip. They ate fish and may have dived for them like the modern day gannet.
Uniquely, our CollectA Pteranodon incorporates a cockade or tassel on its
tail, suggested by the animal's unusual tail vertebrae.
